Chocolate Funny Cake: The Best, EASIEST Dessert!

Jump to Recipe

Oh, Funny Cake! Just that name should make you want to smile.

It’s all of the best things in the world put inside a piecrust. What more could you ask for? I mean, come on!

My Mimi was the one who originally introduced this recipe to my family. Since then, it has always been my sister’s favorite dessert. This is the dessert she would always request from my Mimi for any birthday or special occasion.

It was ALWAYS a huge hit!

And the BEST PART: It is SO EASY!

Just mix up a few ingredients, put them in a piecrust, and bake!

That’s my kind of recipe!

You can always swap out the Devil’s Food cake mix for a different flavor too if you’re not as big of a chocolate lover as I am. I won’t judge!

And of course, you’ll want to top it all with some ice cream and extra fudge. Because every good dessert, in my humble opinion, has ice cream and fudge generously cascading on top!

Now, since the recipe is so easy, I’ll also keep this short. Let’s get to it!

How To Make Chocolate Funny Cake:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. With a stand mixer or a whisk by hand, mix together cake mix, eggs, cooled melted butter, and milk until all clumps are gone.

3. Take your two pie crusts and divide the hot fudge from one of the jars into the bottom of both pie crusts. The second jar of fudge is for extra topping so make sure you save it!

4. Pour the cake mix into both pie crusts, ensuring you divide it evenly.

5. Bake 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Let cool then serve with ice cream and more fudge on top! YUM!

This cake is so incredible!!! I love the combination of the chocolate taste and the buttery crust. I love this especially when it’s fresh out of the oven with the cold ice cream and extra fudge on top. And this only takes 10 minutes of prep and can bake while you eat dinner!
